Judges: AJ Art Editor Brad Yendle and architectural photographers Grant Smith and Ed Reeve
Winners are shown below ordered by category, The changing face of London and Architectural details.
Judges comments: This photo really fits the brief with buildings spanning decades in one carefully selected visual plane. This black and white photo captures the light well. A clear winner from the entries to this category..
2nd prize - Street view with the Monument - Jo Loney
Judges comments: Well composed, capturing the early light. A unique interpretation of the theme.
Jo Loney: I was thinking of the theme when I saw this image in the beautiful morning light and was struck by the contrast I saw - the commemorative solid Monument built after the city had been destroyed by the great fire vs the skeletal immerging new
build - both evidence of the continual changing face of London.
3rd prize - City Hall - Martin Turner
-Martin-Turner.jpg)
Judges comments: The even lighting of the photo and good use of colour has produced an almost monochrome effect image with fantastically striking angles. With Guy’s and The Shard beside each other in this urban landscape, the changing face of London is apparent.
Martin Turner: Having visited City Hall previously, I was looking for a fresh and new composition. Using a fisheye I was able to capture the wonderful geometry of City Hall, the ever developing London skyline and also use a lone photographer to balance the converging lines.
1st prize - Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance - Wendy Lee
-Wendy-Lee.jpg)
Judges comments: Movement has been effectively captured, with the use of focus and is reflective of the use of the building, a music and dance school. The complimentary magenta and cyan tones accent the picture well. It was a clear winner from the entries to this category.
2nd prize - One New Change (plaster ceiling detail) - Michael Lin
-Michael-Lin.jpg)
Judges comments: This image has a striking colour. A strong graphic with intersecting lines and angles it is reflective of the larger scale shapes of the building.
3rd prize - Royal Ballet School: Bridge of Aspiration - Sarah Edwards
-Sarah-Edwards.jpg)
Judges comments: A well framed shot. Filling the image with beautiful lines, the image draws the viewer in.
