Revealing the Lea Valley

Until the 2012 Olympics were awarded to London, few people in the east of the city, let alone in the region, were aware of the Lea Valley. Next summer will show Londoners and visitors to the capital what has been achieved with £9bn of public investment in the area between Hackney Wick and Stratford. But the Lea Valley is much more than the Olympic Park.

lea valleySeveral expert-led walks and talks showcase the regeneration and investment into emerging communities on the valley’s edge, the valley’s wildlife, the history of enterprise and invention, the engineering that keeps the capital going, and the spectacular leisure landscapes. Find out about the lower Lea Valley’s industrial legacy amidst wild landscapes on the Walthamstow Wetlands and ICE walks, or for more of an overview join the cycle tour along the towpaths.
