This year we’ve a special showcase of the vital role of civil engineers in building, maintaining and transforming the capital’s infrastructure and built environment, in partnership with The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). ICE is organising a series of walks, tours and boat trips to celebrate and explore innovative engineering of the past, present and future, including visits to ICE London Civil Engineering Award winning projects.
Highlights include insights into: water and sewage at Abbey Mills Pumping Station, Crossness Engines House, Thames Barrier and flood risk and King George V Pumping Station; transport transformations at Blackfriars, East London Line and London Bridge; energy at Closed Loop Recycling and SELCHP; the legacy and future of engineering up and down the Thames on special boat tours, and in the lower Lea Valley.
ICE Award Winners such as the Velodrome at the London 2012 Olympic Site or the National Tennis Centre Sports Canopy are flagged with within the listings, and the whole range of sites to visit can be seen here
